Do you find that you have a need in your life? Between finances, relationships, health woes, job issues, family life, and stress, I would imagine that most of us have an area that we really need God to show up in.
My family is having a hard time right now with something that seems overwhelming, heartbreaking, and stressful.
I was listening to the radio recently and heard a song by the band Unspoken and one of the lyrics said, “Don’t you give up on your miracle, you’ve got to speak to the impossible,” and it hit me in that moment how incredibly powerful that thought was. Don’t give up, keep pressing in, even when what you are asking for seems impossible. The title of this song is “Miracle” if you would like to listen to it. The first verse asks:
Have you stopped reaching?
No longer seeking greater things
Have you forgotten you have a Father listening? Oh,
He tells the sun when to rise
Gives the wind its breath
Swings a door wide open and moves in a moment you least expect
Don’t you give up on a miracle
You’ve got to speak to the impossible, oh
You’ve got to pray till you break through, breaks through the ceiling keep on believing
Don’t you give up
Don’t you give up on a miracle
I think that too often we forget that we serve a God of miracles. When life has got us down and when we have exhausted our hope or come to the end of ourselves, we find that God is right there waiting to do wondrous things that are not impossible for Him to do. It’s the getting to that point that is not easy. It’s the patience to trust that’s hard. Mark 10:27 (ESV)states, “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” We must remind ourselves that we serve a mighty Creator God for whom nothing is impossible.
Jeremiah 32:17 (ESV) also puts it this way, “‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.” We must trust in God even in the hard times. We may ask ourselves why bad things are happening or why God seems slow to answer us, yet we must still trust in the goodness of God and His character.
Take heart and be encouraged; we may not understand why we have difficulties now but someday we will. Until then, we can claim God at His Word for we know God always keeps His Promises. Here are some verses to guard in the secret places of your heart:
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you.
— Psalm 5:11 (ESV)
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
— Psalm 9:9 (ESV)
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.
— Psalm 62:8 (ESV)
Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.
— Isaiah 26:4 (ESV)
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
— Psalm 46:1 (ESV)
So dear one, let me encourage you as I remind myself, Don’t Give Up! God is waiting to help us, encourage us, bless us, and provide for us in His great timing and plan. Our job is to keep pressing in, reading His word and believing He is trustworthy! May we continue to speak to the impossible in our lives much like our word for the church, we need to Expect Miracles!
